- Circle Square is currently working with a European Real Estate platform who are looking for a SVP head of investment accounting to join their team. Our clients Opportunistic European Real Estate platform has experienced a period of rapid growth and currently manages around £1.5bn across circa fifteen investments – both direct Real Estate portfolios and Real Estate backed non-performing loan portfolios across a wide range of European geographies and asset types.
The role:
Within this role you will be Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management, the role covers Financial and Management Reporting, Tax and Corporate Compliance for investment portfolio projects and enforcement/REO projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist and advise in the creation of SPV structures.
- Plan and manage the selection process and appointment of local SPV accounting firms and corporate administrators for new investments.
- Interpret the acquisition funds flows from the deal team and communicate to the local SPV accountants in order to finalise initial acquisition accounting.
- Setup and maintain key reporting processes used to populate the in-house Cash Management Database (CMD).
- Agree reporting structure for provision to the Portfolio Management Team (main internal customer), and oversee monthly actuals reporting using the CMD.
- Plan, manage and oversee the annual tax compliance and financial audit for all investment entities (including interim audits where necessary).
- Oversee the quarterly and annual financial statements reporting to lender banks.
- Coordinate and oversee the local SPV accountants and out-sourced / third party corporate administrators.
- Advise the Workout Team on accounting and corporate administration matters in relation to enforcement entities.
- Liaise with Luxemburg office and the Portfolio Management Team on distribution payments and Board meetings.
- Keep abreast on changes in accounting and tax rulings and their implications for all investments.
- Coordinate cessation of investment entities and closure of bank accounts on investment wind up.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CA or similar)
- Degree-level qualification in relevant subject
- 5-7 Post-qualification experience preferably within the real estate private equity industry
- Experience of managing a team and reviewing the work of junior team members
- 5+ years’ real estate / private equity fund finance management and accounting experience.
- Experience of dealing with external auditors and coordinating the consolidation of multiple SPVs for reporting purposes.
