We are working with one of the world's leading institutional investors to hire a VP for their European Real Estate Transactions team in London
Headquartered in Canada, the firm is one of the fastest growing institutional investors globally and currently manages in excess of $300BN.
The firm's Real Estate Investment strategy is to pursue large and scalable direct JV transaction opportunities with high quality partners, as well as pursuing both public and private company platform investment opportunities. The firm invests in Real Estate across the risk spectrum with a focus on complex large-scale deals.
Their European portfolio includes all major Real Estate asset classes including retail, offices, industrial, residential, mixed-use and student housing, across a range of European geographies including UK, Germany, France, Spain and Scandinavia.
The VP will be a key contributor to scaling the European Real Estate Investing business, and will:· Work on transaction deal teams to undertake and manage long-term, sizeable equity investments across Europe
· Actively engage in European portfolio and asset management
· Develop and mentor junior colleagues.
· Have a significant amount of exposure to all elements of the European real estate business. The role provides an opportunity to be actively involved in both new transaction execution and oversight of existing real estate JV and platform investments across multiple real estate sectors and geographies.
· Produce detailed investment committee recommendations and take a major role in both presenting and answering challenging technical questions at investment committee
· Lead in the definition and implementation of asset strategies aimed at driving financial performance in the short and long term
The ideal candidate will be a critical and innovative thinker, have built a value-accretive track record and have begun to develop strong investment and asset management judgement.
Qualifications:
· 6 to 10 years relevant work experience with a proven track record in a Real Estate investment related business; with a particular focus on asset management
· In-depth transactional and commercial experience, including understanding of valuation and investment appraisal techniques essential
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written as well as verbally in English) with an ability to build working relationships internally and externally
· Ability to apply consistent investment judgement; the ability to discern and focus on "what's important". Understand the wider context of the deal and be able to weigh the risks appropriately
· Demonstrate solid depth and breadth of modelling skills and can run accurate underwriting models
· Experience in development management seen as an asset
· European foreign language skills and educational / working experience in a target Continental European market is an asset
