Three questions we encourage Associates to ask before they sign anything:
1️⃣ “What does success look like in this role over the next 24 months?”
You’re looking for a clear answer on the type of deals, level of ownership, and what needs to have changed for them to call the hire a success.
2️⃣ “How are responsibility and progression actually decided here?”
Titles are one thing. How decisions get made about who leads deals, who gets carry, and who progresses is another. Listen for real examples, not theory.
3️⃣ “What do you feel is exciting about the platform’s direction over the next few years?”
This shows you're invested in the long-term opportunity. It also gives you a chance to align your skills and goals with the fund’s vision — and position yourself as someone who wants to contribute to that growth.
You can’t control every variable in a process. But you can ask better questions.
